MUTUAL OPPOSITION OF RELATIVE HOME
Solarized 35mm positive film photos, 5 x 7 in, 2026
“Somewhere between the opposite pale greys, lies an image of vague truthfulness echoing that what once was home” is how I opened this book. And how I close it, as this is the only text I included.
As times go by, idea of home is becoming more blurred and elusive to me. Memories that once were the foundation of my comfort began to erode. Photos that were taken to remember got solarized.
I've made this book from a very personal archive of undeveloped film. It has followed me since I first moved countries, as a backup, as a warning.
I came to Toronto as an exchange student, but after few months it became apparent to me that my time here should not end yet, and so I left in hope of returning with a visa, but before that I had to leave my mark here, as a bacon that will guide me back, so I developed those latent images and put them into a book that I distributed amongst friends.
This project encompasses the polarizing nature of being a vagabond, as with each subsequent change of environment and living situation, memories tend to shift and spill over one another.
